Protect Penalty Rates

When you work unsociable hours and miss out on time with family and friends, you deserve to be compensated -- that's why penalty rates exist. And they're an essential part of many workers' take-home pay that, if cut, would make life pretty difficult. But here's......

5 Reasons You Can't Trust Abbott

This election, we have a choice: a future where we value rights at work and invest in jobs; or a future where big businesses' voice is the only one that is heard. It’s clear which side of that equation Tony Abbott falls down on.

What the government is proposing will force parents to re think employment within DHS and other government departments and/or will also put greater pressure on childcare services due to increased work hours and place more pressure on doctor services due to stress related illnesses. What happened to family friendly organisations? The government should look at the broader picture and wider implications. Are you going to be the one who stands up for the average Australian and prove you have the qualities to be a leader?"}

    \nThe Honorable Senators David Leyonhjem (for New South Wales), Glenn Lazarus (For Queensland), Nick Xenophon and Bob Day (for South Australia), Zhenya Wang (for Western Australia) and Jacqui Lambie (for Tasmania).\n

    Please vote NO to Tony Abbott’s workplace changes. The majority of employees who work hard for less in this country is the reason the economy is in such good shape compared to other global economies. I am an injured worker who is NOT receiving superannuation payments from WorkCover Qld, and I have submitted a request to FWA on advice from The Honorable Senator Eric Abetz to lobby for changes to my Award. This is just another crushing blow to employees who have been encouraged, from commencing employment, to fund their retirement only to see the Government ‘cop out’ on disadvantaged injured workers.
    \nThe days of the Government of the people, by the people, for the people has vanished! Now it’s the people lining the pockets of the rich and advantaged, while our Government further breaks our spirit in support of this lunacy. The very fabric of our community i.e. health, family and happiness, and our willingness to work is being ‘crushed’ by our Government’s broken promises.
    \nCome on Senators, help restore dignity and pride, and the opportunity for our older Australians who have done their bit and the youth who want the dream to continue, to see that you’re there for them in their desire to contribute the future and wealth of Australia.
    \nTony Abbott has the chance to regain the respect of the people…..if he has the foresight to cease this destruction."}

    \nI am imploring you to vote against the Liberal party’s work place reforms.
    \nI am a nurse of 40 years. During this time I have missed too many family events (week ends, Birthdays, Christmas, Easter, Public Holiday family get togethers) to count.
    \nI have been forced to work night duty even when this has been detrimental to my health. I can’t begin to count how many double shifts I have worked when staffing levels are low. I put my patients’ health & well being ahead of my own … OFTEN.
    \nTony Abbott arrogantly claims shift workers choose this life style because it suits them is not true for many workers.
    \nI would love a 9-5 no weekends, no public holiday roster, but who will be there for those who need care 24 hours a day. Surly workers should be compensated for these antisocial hours. Without penalties my wages would be significantly adversely affected.
    \nHe said work choices was dead in the water, Please make sure this promise is not broken. VOTE NO on the behalf of Victorian nurses & many other health care provders.
